Depression is not merely a mental disease. Its causes are physical as much as mental. This is what I have learnt the hard way in life—after undergoing many bouts of severe depression. After taking regular doses of tranquillisers or sleep inducing drugs, I discovered that the key to a healthy mind is correction of food habits. How I came out of my 10 year old depression is —by making the following changes to my lifestyle.
- Restricting cereal intake to two times a day
- Drinking water one hour after meals
I supplemented the above plan by the following steps.
- Regular aerobic exercise for 40 minutes a day
- Prayers and meditation
