Constant coughing

My six-year-old daughter has a history of prolonged coughing. Last year, her cough lasted about three months, almost the entire winter. When she catches a cold or has a sore throat, her cough begins. It’s a dry cough that worsens when she’s lying down, making her feel weak and irritable. Her appetite isn’t normal during these episodes. This year, her cough started around July 1st, 2024, and she is still coughing. I’ve taken her to the GP three times, but they keep saying it will take time. As a mum, I’m exhausted from sleepless nights, and she is now suffering from anxiety and stress. She can’t play or go to school. She takes at least two courses of antibiotics. Either meanwhile she gets sick with Chest infection, sore throat or ear infection. Last year while coughing she was treated for a chest infection and after few weeks for an ear infection. This ear she got chest infection again.

I really need some help. I’ve been taking her to the GPs and trying various remedies like steam, cough syrups, lozenges, honey, ginger lemon, and clove tea—everything people suggest or that I find through research. The doctor gave her a nasal spray and an inhaler. Nothing provides lasting relief; the cough just won’t go away.
